🦇 A Look Back at Halloween on Ice
Every Halloween looks a little different in our studio, and that’s largely because of our clients. Their parties, themes and ideas have inspired years of Halloween ice sculptures and custom ice luges, giving us an archive that’s just as much about the people we’ve worked with as it is about the ice.
🧊 Designing a Custom Ice Luge
An ice luge adds another layer to the carving process because it has to work as well as it looks. A channel is carved into the ice so a drink can travel through the sculpture and exit down the funnel, meaning the shape, angle and thickness of the ice all have to be considered as part of the design.
🦋 A New Halloween Theme Every Year
One of the things we look forward to each Halloween is finding out what our clients have planned for the year. Some have turned their parties into an annual tradition, but the theme, and the ice that comes with it, changes completely. One year brought moth imagery inspired by The Silence of the Lambs, while the next went back to classic monsters. For our small team, these returning parties have become a fun way to watch a client’s Halloween traditions evolve, one theme at a time.
🎃 Scary Jack-o’-Lanterns 👻
Not everything we carve for Halloween is frozen. Internationally recognized ice carver Angelito Baban brings his carving skills to pumpkins, transforming them with deep-set eyes, exaggerated expressions and sharp teeth that go far beyond the traditional jack-o’-lantern. He can also carve pumpkins live at Halloween parties and events, giving guests a chance to watch each spooky face take shape in real time.
🍸 Halloween Cocktail Ice
The bar is another place to carry a Halloween theme. Skull-shaped cocktail ice adds an unexpected detail to cocktails and spirits without needing an elaborate garnish. In a clear or dark drink, the shape becomes part of the presentation and gives guests a surprise when their cocktail arrives.
